Shift-Interleave Coding for DNA-Based Storage: Correction of IDS Errors and Sequence Losses

We propose a novel coding scheme for DNA-based storage systems, called the shift-interleave (SI) coding, designed to correct insertion, deletion, and substitution (IDS) errors, as well as sequence losses. The SI coding scheme employs multiple codewords from two binary low-density parity-check codes. These codewords are processed to form DNA base sequences through shifting, bit-to-base mapping, and interleaving. At the receiver side, an efficient non-iterative detection and decoding scheme is employed to sequentially estimate codewords. The numerical results demonstrate the excellent performance of the SI coding scheme in correcting both IDS errors and sequence losses.Comment: submitted to IEEE conferenc

Low Temperature X-ray Diffraction Study of ZnCr2O4 and Ni0.5Zn0.5Cr2O4

金沢大学大学院自然科学研究科Results of x-ray diffraction measurements are presented for ZnCr2O4 and Ni0.5Zn0.5Cr2O4. Splits of the x-ray diffraction spectrum are observed in ZnCr2O4 at 12 K. In Ni0.5Zn0.5Cr2O4 no clear split is observed, but a full width at half maximum (FWHM) shows a steep increase below about 20 K. It is found that the integrated intensity of the diffraction spectra shows a softening behavior at low temperatures in ZnCr2O4. © 2008 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC

Low temperature x-ray diffraction study on superconductivity

金沢大学理工研究域Using a low temperature x-ray diffractometer, we studied superconductivity materials, optimally doped and underdoped YBCOs and PrOs4Sb 12 between 0.1 K and 300 K. At several temperatures, whole profiles of the x-ray reflection peak were measured and refined by Rietveld analysis. By Rietveld analysis, we found that Pr atoms in PrOs4Sb12 are still oscillating at an amplitude of about 0.1 A at 0.18 K. For some reflection planes, x-ray diffraction measurement with a small step size and a long stepping time was performed to accumulate more counts at certain temperatures. The lattice constant d of optimally doped YBCO (OPT YBCO) shows anomalous behaviours at around the superconductivity transition temperature Tc and around spin gap temperature T*. In OPT YBCO, the intensity of the reflection spectrum shows a clear anomaly at around Tc. © 2009 IOP Publishing Ltd

Low temperature x-ray diffraction study on phase transitions

By using the low temperature x-ray diffraction (LTXD) we investigated several phase transitions which accompany with the crystal distortion. In our present report we will mainly discuss the integrated intensity (I.I.) of the x-ray spectrum. The temperature dependence of I.I can be expressed by the Debye-Waller factor. As a precursor effect of the crystal phase transition, the softening of the lattice occurs. Due to the softening of the lattice, the I.I drastically decreases down to the crystal phase transition temperature. We observed this effect in many materials. Here we will show some of them, iron pnictide superconductor SmFe0.925Co0.075AsO, and magnetic ordering compounds PrCu4Ag and Nd2Ti2O 7. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Human NK cell development in hIL-7 and hIL-15 knockin NOD/SCID/IL2rgKO mice.

The immune system encompasses acquired and innate immunity that matures through interaction with microenvironmental components. Cytokines serve as environmental factors that foster functional maturation of immune cells. Although NOD/SCID/IL2rgKO (NSG) humanized mice support investigation of human immunity in vivo, a species barrier between human immune cells and the mouse microenvironment limits human acquired as well as innate immune function. To study the roles of human cytokines in human acquired and innate immune cell development, we created NSG mice expressing hIL-7 and hIL-15. Although hIL-7 alone was not sufficient for supporting human NK cell development in vivo, increased frequencies of human NK cells were confirmed in multiple organs of hIL-7 and hIL-15 double knockin (hIL-7xhIL-15 KI) NSG mice engrafted with human hematopoietic stem cells. hIL-7xhIL-15 KI NSG humanized mice provide a valuable in vivo model to investigate development and function of human NK cells
